About

Hello and welcome to my personal site, a place I store my opinions on a multitude of subjects. Helping others get more out of life, has always been a passion of mine, something that seems to be lost in today’s society.

In 2001, I like so many others watched the movie Pay It Forward. This site is my reflection of that. As I share with so many others things I have discovered along the way. During my working career, I spent 37 years as an Avionics Technician, a coach, and mentor.

Working on avionics systems, has taught me more about analyzing life then any educational system ever could. I’ve worked on aircraft from the tinniest of home built to 747’s. Today I wish more people had the experience that I’ve gained from this, the ability to step back and look at the whole picture, not just segments.

If I have anyone to blame or to thank for my course of action it would point to the book Rich Dad Poor Dad. Now whether you like it or not is irrelevant, it has inspired 10’s of thousands to take control of their lives. The reality was I wanted my own business and whether by luck or design I found myself gravitating towards Network Marketing.

Yet, the longer I was involved with it; the more depressing it became. It has an extremely high failure rate, yet not that much higher than any traditional business faces. Being the troubleshooter I am I began to dig into the cause and effects that lead to these failures.

The biggest issue facing this industry was the way it was promoted, generally based on hype. I set out to create web site that reflected my views on the subject, maybe telling people the truth does matter more than hype.

It is interesting to follow individuals on Twitter and listen to their comments about it. They complain about it, yet they are using the very same principles to grow their business, and often they make the very same mistakes uneducated make simply because they don’t understand What Is Network Marketing?

So what is my site Glenn Burks.com about?

As I wrote earlier it is a collection, my second brain where I can store issues that have come up mainly in the technical area, yet it also covers other areas that are non-technical in nature. I based the site on the CMS platform of Drupal because of its power and flexibility.

One of my favorite quotes;

The true secret of giving advice is, after you have honestly given it, to be perfectly
indifferent whether it is taken or not, and never persist in trying to set people right.
