Interest Based Advertising Brought To You By Google
Submitted by Glenn on Thu, 03/19/2009 - 11:17
When I received the email from Google about their new interest based advertising that is due to roll out in April it caused me to question just what are they thinking.
I think it will be interesting to see how this actually works. It does seem like it will take relevancy away, yet they indicate it should make it as relevant as possible. This change from based on the current content to what your overall interest is based on surfing history could cause issues for some.
One thought came to mind, that is parental control. This could now allow parents to really discover what interest their children. Simply by going to a website that displays google ads and seeing what actually shows up.
It also means now that each family member will have to have a individual account on the family computer. Otherwise my guess is it would become so confused it would not know exactly what to display. Or the most dominant computer user in the home would set the preference for the ads everyone else views. Read more
Doing Web Video The Right Way
Submitted by Glenn on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 06:34Over the past several years, many have moved to marketing via web video. Yet, when you look at many of these video's most of them are really pathetic.
Reading through many studies on marketing via video it seems that the overwhelming response is that it is hard to quantify the effectiveness of this form of marketing.
I watched a video on youtube awhile back that I found funny. The video started out with a graphic that never changed. The individual that placed this video there, then went on to talk for almost 10 minutes.
When you look at how video commercials are done, they move through different camera angles and shots very quickly. About every three seconds something changes, keeping the view fully engaged.
The majority of well done videos gets the message across in about 30 seconds or about the length of our attention span, based on tracking studies that have been done.
So If you want to learn how to do web video correctly, there is one source that I've found and use. Believe me the amount of effort that David Kaminski has put into this course is amazing. Read more
Networkers I Have Worked With.
Submitted by Glenn on Fri, 08/08/2008 - 11:37Throughout our lives we get to work with people and develop relationships. In relationships some last and some end in divorce. We truly just never know how things will turn out. All of the images here where from The Works Team group, with the exception of Steve Sakal.
What is interesting is how individual perspectives change when it comes to making money at all costs. One of the reasons I choose to leave The Works Team.

To Little To Late for GotoMeeting
Submitted by Glenn on Sat, 07/26/2008 - 17:26Why do companies do it? Ok what am I ranting about now, well last year as I finally decided that my entire office computer system would be switch to Mac I wanted my most used applications as well.
One that I used quite often for tech support was GoToMeeting, when I asked of course they replied we do not support it. So where did that leave me?
I could run it with Parallels and then Windows Xp but I wanted something that would run on the mac, so I could show both worlds since I had customers that used one or the other of the operating systems.
Then there where also those that used Linux, so essentially GoToMeeting was out of the question. That is when after searching I found Yugma, it would run on just about any operating system.
Yugma is not without it's share of issues but each update, just made things run much smoother, I could have more people online and at greater savings then with GoToMeeting.
So when I received this the other day I was a little perturbed: Read more
Renegade University Students Wanting Help?
Submitted by Glenn on Thu, 04/03/2008 - 01:43
This has been an interesting turn of events, over the past few weeks I've had more people asking for help in creating authoritative web sites. In many ways I have to believe it's true that they are seeking out the information that they are just not getting from the newest "Network Marketing Training" company.
The neat thing about having your own servers is you can watch live people going through the sites. Many of them are looking how to set it up and make it work. Now this is something I've taught to many for years and yet many have failed at it miserably!
Why did they fail? Most of them are looking for quick results, over night success. They get sucked into the promises of systems that are going to just explode their business. Systems only work for awhile, before they really just fall apart. Read more
