Setting Up A Blog What Do We Really Need.
Today I thought I would continue, sharing my years of knowledge or guess work; however, you want to put it.
When it comes to setting up a website whether it is static or database driven there are so many options and people willing to sell you tools to help you achieve higher rankings.
The question I often ask myself what is it that I really need, to achieve the desired results?
When it comes to blog software we have a few choices; going from ease of use to increasing difficulty to master. The advantages of a blog over a static site is in most cases it does not require expensive software like Dreamweaver $399 along with Fireworks $399 etc..
You’ll still need software to manipulate your images, a nice one because of price is called GIMP - It’s Free and like anything else it takes some getting used to.
For the blog software we have
- Blogger
- Wordpress
- b2evolution
- Drupal
Blogger is purely blogging software and is simple to use.
Wordpress used to fall into this category but is now moving more and more to a content management system.
b2evolution and Drupal both are “CMS” Content Management Systems, with a steep learning curve.
The learning curve is not just how to design the look and feel of the site but also in how to arrange the linking structure, what modules or plugins depending on the system to use.
There is that word again Learning “Education.” Today it takes me about 40 hours to setup a site, plug everything in and fine tune it. This is only after years of study, and filtering out the garbage that is out there and applying what I learn.
Last night on one of my calls, which really just emphasizes what we learn and apply through the training at Leadersclub. I pointed out how we can apply this to both our prospecting and writing for our blogs - websites.
That is addressing the concerns of our prospects - visitors. It really takes a long time to sink in that during your prospecting calls, they ask the questions that are of great importance to them.
Back in 2006, I took a five month sampling of just one question related to the greatest challenge, each month’s sampling ended averaging about 11 pages worth of what real people want.
As we go through prospecting, taking the time to write down these questions, you’ll begin to see repeating patterns. You can then take what you’ve learned from these questions and through Leadersclub learn how to apply it when prospecting and in writing compelling content for your websites.
After all isn't that what marketing is all about?
